Bluesocket Joins the World in Celebrating Earth Day 2011

Bluesocket, the first and only provider of wireless networks with virtualized control, today announced numerous initiatives in celebration of Earth Day 2011. An ardent advocate of sustainability efforts and focused on “zero-waste”, Bluesocket revolutionized the wireless LAN industry with its virtual wireless LAN (vWLAN) solution, which brings all of the advantages of virtualization to the wireless network.

By removing 100% of the wireless LAN controller hardware, Bluesocket’s vWLAN reduces capital costs, decreases energy consumption by 80%, minimizes carbon emissions while at the same time producing significant gains in network capacity and performance over conventional controller-based solutions.

Bluesocket employees will reduce waste, energy consumption, paper usage, and CO2 emissions with numerous Earth Day activities. The Bluesocket Energy Awareness campaign dedicated to Earth Day awareness throughout the week consists of many events, such as;

• “Earth Hour”: A hour dedicated to “powering down” and honoring our natural resources
• Carbon Free Local Lunch & Walk: A special “Earth Day” lunch, featuring local ingredients from New England farms and dairies, which starts and ends with a one mile walk
• Green Awareness Fair: Educating people on environmental friendly alternatives, exhibitors will showcase products and services that include home energy audits, organic lawn care, composting, green cleaning supplies, etc.
• Ongoing efforts focused on education and awareness to reinforce the “Reduce, Re-use, Recycle” theme and empower people to continue to make small changes that will improve the quality of life for generations to come

“Sustainability is one of the most pressing issues facing the IT industry today,” stated Mads Lillelund, president and CEO of Bluesocket. “With vWLAN, Bluesocket has proven to the industry that a customer can enjoy the benefits and performance gains of a technically superior solution coupled with greater energy conservation and cost savings. Blue (Bluesocket) is the new green.”
