Nigel's Eco-Store expands

One of the UK’s leading eco-retailers has extended its range of products with the purchase of an on-line, eco-lifestyle store.

Award-winning www.nigelsecostore.com was founded in 2005, by Brighton-based eco-expert Nigel Berman, with the aim of selling eco-friendly products which are fun, functional and desirable to people in the UK and across Europe who want to reduce their carbon footprint.

The purchase of www.ecocentric.co.uk means the company can now offer more than 1,000 products including a wide range of stylish home accessories and gifts. There is also eco-lighting, green office supplies, eco gifts, storage jars, home glassware, eco toys, organic cotton bed linen, natural cosmetics and even an eco-wedding list.

Nigel said: “In spite of the recession, we've found that a growing number of people in the UK, especially in London, are thinking more about what they buy, and wanting products that are more eco-friendly and have a positive benefit on the environment.

“We've taken a hard look at our product range and are now promoting easy-fit products like Energy Wizards and Radiator Boosters that save energy, and help to cut household bills. These are currently some of our best sellers with everyone looking to save money and cut back on waste. But we’ve also included fun items like solar Christmas fairy lights and re-usable gift wrap .”

In keeping with Nigel’s Eco Store philosophy, the company will make sure that the majority of EcoCentric suppliers are UK based and the supply chain, from delivery to manufacture, has a carbon footprint that is as low as possible.

“Being sustainable runs up and down the entire supply chain. We want to be an inspiration to other businesses and demonstrate that sustainability works at all levels with no loss of profit,” Nigel explained.

The takeover of EcoCentric will also mean enhanced marketing for green products, providing a stimulus for small eco companies or sole traders.

“By placing our products in the mainstream, the increased demand will help support small, green producers. Consumers are starting to vote with their wallets and are expecting eco products at affordable prices that can also save energy costs. Through our two websites, we are able to supply and encourage sustainable purchasing away from those choices that are bad for the planet - it’s win-win all round,” says Nigel.
